TAG | Get To Know Me - 21 Questions

Hi everyone! I decided to make a little tag about myself so you guys could find out a bit more about this blogger. So, without further adieu, here we go:

 

1. Are you named after anyone? - No, my grandma actually came up with the name and my mom liked it so much that it stuck. I was supposed to be named Gabriella. One of my middle names, Charlotte, though, is a different story. When my brother was little, he loved the story Charlotte's Web, so I was named after a spider.

2. When was the last time you cried? - Hmmm about a week and a half ago.

3. Do you have kids? - Not yet!

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? - Honestly, I have no clue. People act so different than how they think they act, if that makes sense. And also, it depends whether new me and old me were compatible, considering new me is 'another person'. This is what happens when I get asked complicated questions.

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot - Religiously.

6. Will you ever bungee-jump? - Only if I put on a diaper beforehand. I'd probably make a big deal about it and freak out beforehand and then someone would push me off and I'd want to go again.

7. What’s your favorite cereal? - Corn Pops! Loved them since childhood.

8. What’s the first thing you notice about people - Eyes, smile, presence. The way they interact and act around others, the way they react.

9. What is your eye colour? - Brown on the inside and green on the outside.

10. Scary movie or happy endings? - Happy endings!! I haaaaate scary movies unless they're thrillers, but that's more making me nervous and antsy than scaring me.

11. Favorite smells? - Fresh cut grass, fresh wood, gasoline, campfire, BBQ.

12. Summer or winter - I'm Canadian, what do you think? Always winter.

13. Computer or television? - Computer all the way. Plus, I can (and do) watch my fav shows online.

14. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? - Florida when my fam went on a 2 week vacation. Beautiful, but incredibly hot.

15. Do you have any special talents? - I dread this question but I truly don't know whether I'm talented at something or just think I am. How about special passions? Knitting, writing, acting, makeup.

16. Where were you born? - Toronto, Canada.

17. What are your hobbies? - I love to write, knit, make jewelry, design. I'd like to start dragon boating, canoeing, jive dancing.

18. Do you have any pets? - Yes! My big boy Azor. He's a German Shorthaired Pointer and he's just turned 4 this month.

19. Favorite movie? - Ah yes, another horrible question. I HAVE SO MANY!! Savages, A Cinderella Story, How To Train Your Dragon, Pitch Perfect, Mean Girls, The Christopher Nolan Batman's, Kickass, American Beauty, The Avengers.

20. Do you have any siblings? - Yep, one older brother.

21. What do you want to be when you grow up? - Ideally, it's my dream to be an actress, but I would also accept having my own business, being a writer (be it a novel or a video game company), or anything artistic.

HAUL | Books, Forever21

Hello my lovelies! It's a haul day, what can I say? See what I did there? Me neither. So my cousin and I had a little adventure downtown. We were meant to do some shopping but we mostly ate at Jack Astor's and got lost 300 times because I'm a terrible navigator and should not be trusted with directions. We ended up going to a huge bookstore and browsing around. Surprisingly, my cousin is quite the picky one when it comes to books, whereas I stacked and stacked anything that caught my attention. I picked out three books that seemed the most interesting to me, and they were around $4.99 each.

• The Daughter Game by Kate Long
• A Race to Splendor by Ciji Ware
• The Pattern Scars by Caitlin Sweet

Realistically, do I need these books? Absolutely not, but I need these books. Do you see my dilemma? They are now 256, 257, and 258 in-line on my 'To Read' list. Kidding, but probably not.

We then finally ended up wandering into the mall where we walked too much and browsed too much. Forever 21 was really the only real stop and needed place we ended up in. As she looked through piles of clothes, I browsed the jewelry and spotted these adorable earrings. They're very tribal and I just love the size and the way they almost sound like wind chimes when the feathers hit each other. And the extra bonus? They were only $3.99.

In the line up for the cash, they always have bins of little things people can look through while they wait. As you may or may not know, I am obsessed with their nail polishes and obviously couldn't resist. But, I managed to overpower my obsession a little by only picking out one nail polish. I ended up getting Coral, which is just as the name suggests. I do have pinks and an orange or two, but I don't have any coral nail polishes so it was a pretty obvious choice.

The last item is one that was purchased seperately but does not deserve a post of it's own, and that's the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips in the colour Raise a Glass. Now, I did only use these one time so perhaps I do need to try them a few more times to get the hang of 'em, but so far I'm not happy. I think my biggest problem with them is the fact that they don't stick to your nails very well. I found the ends of my nails (where you file), the glue would rub off and the piece would stick off. Although there's not really any dry time and it's a smooth, flat, even surface, they're more trouble than they're worth. I think I'll stick to painting them (which is therapeutic as well, extra plus).

LIFESTYLE | A Night In

 

After a pretty slow and boring shift at work, I was finally released only to find I had nothing to do for tonight! So, as I usually would, I decided to take the night off and relax a little. Tumblr, here I coooomeeee!!! But not without a giant mug of hot chocolate and a sleeping puppy. The beautiful mug is a gift from my uncle, who brought it back from his motherland Poland. And the puppy is from a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer mommy who's mommy is from Germany. And I am a nice Polish girl born and living in Canada, so we're got a nice range of countries to work with here.

I've recently been obsessing over a certain musician and band, ie. Phillip Phillips and Two Door Cinema Club. Can you say "playlist on repeat"? With the smoky, sultry voice of Phillip P. and the fun, enigmatic music of TDCC, I think I've got a nice playlist set up for indoor relaxation. The only thing I'm missing is a cute boy to cuddle with, but I'm starting to think that's too much to ask for at this point.

HAUL | LouLou Swag Bag

Hello everyone! I'm sorry about my disappearance, I recently spilled OJ on my old Macbook! I then spent a few days weighing my options before giving in and buying a new Macbook Pro. NO MORE LIQUIDS AROUND IT! Promise.

HAUL | Forever 21

 

 

It's kinda weird but I always find that I order from Forever 21 whenever they have free shipping on their website. Plus, their shipping is super speedy so how can I not? They did have free shipping not too long ago so I went for it and ordered way more things than I needed, yay!

I don't know why but I kinda went with a black and gold theme this time. I guess it was my subconscious yelling at me to buy it. In total I spent $58.47 for everything (with tax). I ended up getting 2 nail polishes, 3 headbands, 2 bracelets and 3 earrings and I love every bit.

When I was younger, I used to wear headbands all the time but I guess I kinda fell out of that stage, but it's started grasping me back lately. I think they're all so lovely and delicate but very royal-looking. The super cluttered gold, black and pearl headband ($6.99) was definitely eye-catching and I thought would look really lovely with a loose updo. The second hairband I chose is the white crocheted one ($4.80), which looked just so delicate and beautiful. Plus, I'm a knitter, how can I not buy anything crocheted? And finally, the last headband is more certainly my favourite! The ruby chain headband ($4.99) is just stunning. It looks a bit like a tiara but it's strong and reminds me a lot of old, vintage outfits. I wore this one to work and everyone called me a princess, so I approve.

I'm a fiend for earrings and I usually always get a pair... or two.... or three, whenever I do some online shopping. I got pretty much 2 of the same earrings in 2 different styles, so that counts as one, right? Right?? Following the gold/black theme, I've also really been into geometric shapes and aztec-like prints and designs. These earrings are gold framed triangles ($4.80) with black pleather triangles, joined together to make a diamond and they're definitely my favourite. The second earrings are pretty, blue dangly earrings ($3.99) that are metallic and grow in size as they drop. And the last earrings ($3.99) are the same stone concept as the dangly, blue metallic, but are more chandelier-esque and with added pearls here and there.

I think it's safe to say that the two bracelets are my favourite, but the arrow one a tiny bit more. The thin, arrow bracelet ($6.80) quickly caught my attention and was in my cart before I could take a breath. It's just so beautiful and unique, and I love that it has 2 adjustable snaps on it so I can wear it tight on my wrist or loose after my watch. The only, only only problem I have with it is that the little arrows move around and sometimes they awkwardly overlap each other, but it's easy to move them back into place. The thicker, more rocker bracelet ($7.80) is definitely something I wouldn't pick out at first glance, but have grown to love. I don't really have a 'set style' for myself, some days I want to wear something a bit darker and more punk, other days I'm a beautiful flower princess. I suppose a punk outfit came to mind when I saw this bracelet.

And lastly, there's no way I can order from Forever 21 if nail polish ($3.80) is not involved. I have a bit of an obsession with their nail polishes, probably owning around 15 of them? Honestly, they're not the best, best quality but when I pound-on the top coat, they last just like any other nail polish. This time, I got the colours Mauve and Bronze, which I absolutely adore! Mauve is definitely one of my most favourite colours, and I just love how this colour looks on the nails. And when I saw Bronze, I literally gasped. I have yet to wear it on full-nails, but it just looks gorgeous on the ring finger with Mauve.

Overall, super duper pleased with my haul!
